Ultra high molecular polyethylene lining board products have excellent wear resistance, good low-temperature impact resistance, self-lubricating, non-toxic, water resistance and chemical resistance. The heat resistance is better than ordinary PE. The disadvantages are low heat resistance (thermal deformation temperature), poor processing formability, external surface hardness, rigidity and creep resistance. It is not as good as ordinary engineering plastics, and the expansion coefficient is too large. UHMWPE has poor fluidity and high viscosity in molten state. It is a rubber like high viscoelastic elastomer. In the early stage, it can only be formed by pressing and sintering methods. At present, it can also be processed by extrusion, injection molding and blow molding methods.
The mechanical properties are higher than those of ordinary high-density polyethylene. It has outstanding impact resistance, stress cracking resistance, high temperature creep resistance, low friction coefficient, self lubrication, excellent chemical corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, noise damping, nuclear radiation resistance, etc.
